Aim of the Workshop

When one starts learning the Movements, one is often seduced by the extraordinary outer form of the postures and the challenge of mastering them, and in learning more and more new positions and dances. I find as I go on with my work with the Movements that this, both in my study and in my teaching, is less and less interesting. This is not to say that the outer form of the Movements is not important; it is - as Gurdjieff himself would say, "Do it exact!". However, what interests me now, increasingly, is the inner process - what is happening inside:

What is this energy in me which motivates each movement that I make? What is the energy that animates the body? Who is this "I" who experiences this energy, this physical sensation of movement within the body? Who am "I"? How can I relax more and more as I execute each position? How can I bring more presence to my sense of being, in each moment?

During the Workshop we will investigate these themes experientially, aiming for a direct experience of truth....dancing....

 The Workshop is suitable for both beginners and advanced students of the Movements.

 

 

Practical Details 

The Workshop will take place at a brand new, purpose built Movements Hall - Francis Villa, in Magoulades, near Arillas, in the north-west of Corfu. The Hall is octagonal in shape, with large windows all around, so we will be dancing while looking out on the lush green nature of the island.

The workshop will begin at 10a.m on 3rd August, and end around  3p.m. on 12th August - it is, therefore, possible to leave Corfu that evening if you wish - flights generally leave in the evening.

We will work on Movements from 9.30 a.m till 5 p.m. There will be meditation periods both before and after Movements practice. There will also be 2 or 3 evening sessions during the 10 days, and one afternoon free for sightseeing. During each day there will be ample time for swimming in the onsite swimming pool and for relaxing.

 Food & Accommodation 

 

There are several choices of accommodation (prices inclusive of 3 vegetarian meals per day):

1.'dormitory' style, sleeping on mattresses in the Movements Hall   Euro.35 per day

2. in your own tent                                                                                         Euro.35 per day

3. in double room in a nearby hotel                                                            Euro.40 per day

4.in single room in a nearby hotel                                                              Euro.45 per day 

There are also a few bedrooms (double, Euro.48/single, Euro.53) in Francis Villa.
